Mueller Tower Lighting - Tuesday, December 1 - 6:00 PM - Mueller Austin
This may only be the 10th year of lighting the tower itself, but it honors a tradition dating back to the 1960s. Free hot beverages, activities for kids, and appearances by Reagan High School’s marching band and the Houston-Tillotson jazz band will make this an awesome treat to kick off the holidays.
A Christmas Carol - November 25 - December 27 - 12:00 PM - 7:30 PM - Zach Theatre
A holiday classic adapted from Charles Dickens’ original work, this musical features new and old songs with a joyful twist. Tickets start at $25.
Laugh Your Tail Off Cap Comedy Event - Thursday, December 3 - 7:00 PM - Captiol City Comedy Club
Check out this comedy show to benefit Austin-area pets! This is the fourth year for this event, and should prove to be supremely funny. Tickets are $12 per person, or $22 for two, and benefit Love-a-Bull.
Ice Skating on the Plaza - November 29 - January 9 - 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM - Whole Foods (6th Street and Lamar)
Who says it’s too warm to ice skate in Texas? Holiday hours apply. Your $10 entry fee pays for your skate rental.
Austin Jingle Bell 5k - Sunday, December 13 - 8:30 AM - Camp Mabry
Austin’s original festive race is a family-friendly event for run/walkers of all ages. Kids will receive a finisher’s medal, and all age groups will receive a newly-designed event t-shirt. Registration is open until December 10. Remember to bring a valid driver’s license to use Camp Mabry’s facilities.
Retro Style New Years Eve Party - Thursday, December 31 - 9:30 PM - Russian House Austin
Fine dining, or standing room only, this event is sure to ring in the new year in style .With live music, a retro discoteka, and a midnight toast, celebrate new beginnings with some high quality drinks. Tickets start at $65.
